Huckleberry Finn Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Who wouldn’t dream of living the high life, floating down the river with not a care in the world and nobody but you, your friend, and the river ahead? The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain does just that. Huck, a young boy with a good heart, is looking for adventure, and Jim, a runaway slave, dreams of freedom. The two embark on a journey to freedom along the Mississippi River. On the way, Huck runs into a number of characters who, through their outlooks on life, challenge the way Huck thinks, the way he matures, and his own life perspective. An early encounter in the book occurs between Huck and the Grangerfords, a wealthy family with a large number of slaves and a successful plantation. Later, Huck spends a significant amount of time with Tom Sawyer’s Aunt Sally. The Grangerfords’ lifelong feud with the Shepherdsons as well as the plantation environment is a poor model for Huck’s behavior when contrasted with Aunt Sally’s house, where Huck learns valuable life lessons.
