Sociology Coursework Aim In this piece of coursework I am intending to find out if a coach�s expectations of her players affect their learning and performance. This area particularly interests me, as I am sport studies student and im fascinated in the coaching and teaching of sports. In some schools some children drop behind. A suggested reason for this is the schools or teachers expectations. Research demonstrates that the expectations of a teacher, plays a crucial role in learning and education. I would therefore like to link this to sport and find out whether the expectation of a coach affects the learning and performance of their players. Context and Concepts The first concept I�m going to look at is the Labelling theory. This theory states that pupils are constantly being classified. Pupils are always defined as �able� or �less� able than others and to be put in to sets or streams, and restricted from parts of the curriculum.
