Public health refers to the health of the people as a whole. The central mission of public health is to improve the health of population groups in communities. Public health nursing is population-focused, community-oriented nursing practice. The goal of public nursing is the prevention of disease and disabilities of all people by creating conditions in which people can be healthy (Wikipedia, 2006). Public health nursing practice occurs through assessment, policy development, and assurance activities of nurses working in partnerships with nations, states, communities, organizations groups and individuals.
