The �Lord of the Flies� by William Golding portrays his view of civilization in the modern world. He uses a landscape of an island, the population of a group of young survivors, and the leadership of two young boys. Their struggle to survive without adults shows the reader what humans really need when everything else has failed. Golding tells the audience that fun, freedom, power, and belonging are the needs that humans must fulfill to stay satisfied. This is an excellent book for a person who wants to learn the way of humans and why we act the way we do. The first need that takes place on the deserted island is fun. When Ralph has become the leader and wants to set camp and maintain a fire at all costs, is when the characters believe that they are all alone. Ralph and Simon are making the tents and shelter for the people; the littluns are playing in the lagoon, not a care in the world. Also noticeable is Jack's hunters who are all determined by the killing of the boar and to provide the group with food.
