Antimony is a chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol and atomic number of 51. The metalloid antimony has four allotropic forms. The constant form of antimony is a blue-white metal. Yellow and black antimony are unstable non-metals. Antimony is used in flame-proofing, paints, ceramics, enamels, a wide variety of alloys electronics, and rubber. Antimony in its elemental form is a silvery white, brittle, fusible and crystalline solid. It exhibits poor electrical and heat conductivity properties and vaporizes at low temperatures. The metalloid antimony resembles a metal in its appearance and physical properties but does not chemically react as a metal. It is also attacked by oxidizing acids and halogens. Antimony and some of its alloys are unusual to expand in cooling. Antimony was discovered by the ancients in some compounds. In the beginning of the 17th century it was known as a metal. At first, antimony was called Stibium, probably a Roman scholar Pliny first called it that. Abu Musa Jabir Ibn Hayyan, a Muslim chemist was probably the first to call it antimony. ......
