Florence Nightingale named after the city of her birth place, was born on May 12, 1820 in Florence, Italy. She is the daughter of William Edward Nightingale and Frances Smith. Her father William inherited his Uncle Peter Nightingale�s wealth which led him to change his maiden name from Shore to Nightingale. Florence was legendary for being a nurse during the Crimean War. She contributed towards the reformed sanitary condition within the military field infirmity on the other hand, Florence was unique in more ways then one, since an early age Florence had a passion for learning and helping others. During Florence�s early education years her parents had positioned her and her sister Parthenope with governesses, afterward her Cambridge educated father would obtain over his daughter�s schooling. Florence would be familiar among different types of subjects such as classics, Euclid, Aristotle, the bible and political matters while studying with her father.
