Frankenstein's responsibility Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Dr. Frankenstein should be ultimately responsible for the murders the Creature commits. In an attempt to achieve wisdom and glory, Frankenstein unleashed a scourge upon the world. This Creature was gigantic in size, hideous in appearance, and intelligent beyond the realms of man. His existence was miserable; he was abandoned by his creator and became and outcast of society. Time after time, he sought acceptance for his intelligence and personality, and time after time, he was shunned by humanity. As a last resort to make his creator as miserable as himself, he murdered everyone who was close to Frankenstein. Although these crimes were committed as an act of revenge, the Creature is NOT responsible for his actions. Dr. Frankenstein should be ultimately responsible for the murders the creature committed because he created the monster out of an arrogant pursuit of glory, the creature is not human and therefore cannot hold responsibility, and because he never attempted to stop the creature or take responsibility until it was too late.
