This essay will be an analysis of the Poem “To An Athlete Dying Young” by A.E Houseman. Included will be my thoughts on the language, rhytem, imagery, form and sounds. It will be looked at as a whole and in parts. I believe that the poem is about a young man dying and someone, maybe a father or friend is sitting there reminding him of the day he won his first race. Of all the cheering, the happiness, and the glory. He mentions that others who have raced became wash-outs or never did anything more. But in this case he says that the person dying is different, he will be remembered and that he is the “champ”. He wants the person whom is dying to remember the good days, of the races and the women, the fans and the golds. It sounds to me that the person in the poem has lived a full life, butin the case of Gatsby, Gatsby has just begun his life ] and he could have been a winner, if he hadn’t been killed. The language in the poem sounds to be a bit old fashioned using words such as market-place or “ Smart lad” Gatsby too was old fashioned, as he always referred t......
