The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), based in London, started its operations in 2001 and contributions are collected by the International Accounting Standard Committee Foundation, from the major accounting firms, private financial institutions and industrial companies throughout the world, central and development banks, and other international and professional organizations fund the operations of the IASB. �Since its inception in 2001, the IASB has published more than forty International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) which, it is hoped, will one day become the globally accepted ones for financial accounting� (Eaton, 2006).
