Discuss the role and presentation of Mark Antony in the play Julius Caesar Mark Antony plays an important character in the play Julius Caesar. His role as Caesar’s right hand man determines his authority in the play. Initially Antony is portrayed as a quiet man who the audience see little of, yet we know he is an important character as he is Caesar’s trusted friend. This can be identified in Act one, scene two when Caesar confides in Mark Antony about his personal weakness “Come on my right hand for this ear is deaf” (line 214). Caesar also values Antony’s opinions of Cassius, who Caesar does not trust “And tell me what thou thinkst of him” (line 14). Antony wrongly advises Caesar by telling him to “Fear him not”. By saying this Antony shows is not a good judge of character, as he can be naive and sometimes underestimates the personalities of other characters. During Act one and Act two Antony shows he does not possess any political power, but he shows he wants to do right by his friend when he offers Caesar the crown three times this is discussed by Brutus and Casca in Act One, s......
