In Tuesdays With Morrie: An Old Man, A Young Man, and Life’s Greatest Lesson, Mitch Albom explains how his former college professor, Morrie Schwartz, only lived his life according to his own morals and standards. Achieving only what he believed important, teaching others to spend their lives, themselves, not allowing the media to decide their lives’ values for them.
Mitch sets the story through his own point of view, watching his former favorite professor whither away to almost nothing through a disease known as ALS. Albom starts his story out by revealing the close bond that he and his former professor once shared. He does this to show the audience the big influence Morrie had on Mitch’s life at one time. He then reveals a promise “to keep in touch” with Morrie, but fails to keep that promise, due to the world’s increasing pressure on Albom.
