In this essay i will be examining females roles within religion and how some of these have changed through time and have adapted and others that have stayed the same i will also be primarly looking at forms of oppression and relgious reasons for this. Prior to the more modern beliefs women used to be regarded as sex goddesses however, the northern hemisphere and the middle east introduced patriachal rationale to justify male aggression in which polytheism was abolished and monotheism was introduced -the belief of one male God.Although female Gods now cease to exist in our more traditional religions new age movements still look at women being associated with the natural rhythms of life becuase of this they tend to be of higher status in these movements. In all religious texts (ie bible) the prime parts are reserved for males only. Some religions actively promote patriachy in open worship for example- in a prayer by orthodox Jews they mention "Blessed art thou O Lord our God that i was not born a woman." this directly looks at being a woman as a disadvantage and in Ephesians ......
