Lovers �Lovers� is a play written by Brian Friel and is set in the 1960s in Ireland. There are two acts to the play. The first being �Winners�, about a young couple: Joseph Brennan and Margaret Mary Enright. They have been thrown out of school after having sex before marriage and, as a result, Mag falling pregnant. The town in which they live is very strict on the Catholic religion and so are their schools, which is why they are forced to leave in the first place. The act finishes when the two of them are found dead, but are still the �Winners�. The second act is called �Losers� and the final scene is extremely important. The characters in �Losers� are Mrs Wilson who is the head of the house despite having been in her bed for years ever since her husband was found dead, Hannah who is the daughter of Mrs Wilson and has taken care of her all these years, Andy who is engaged to Hanna but they don�t have much of a relationship because of Mrs Wilson and Cissy who is the neighbour and a friend of Mrs Wilson.
