More than 1 million children are affected by their parent�s divorce. These children are traumatized emotionally before, through and years following the divorce of their parents. Not only does a parent�s divorce make the children emotionally unstable and affects their behavior, but it also affects the children�s future relationships. From this, we see that a parent�s divorce affects the children�s way of thinking, being and their future living. If children are emotionally unstable, due to the divorce of their parents, they will turn themselves to alcohol. With the usage of the NELS 1988 1992 data set, it shows that children of the parents recently divorced, were more prone to drinking alcohol in larger quantities more often and are also more prone to be under alcohol�s influence while attending school.
