The Holocaust was a tragic legacy. Millions of Jews lost their lives because of the hatred and blame of just one man, Adolf Hitler, who had the power. It didn't have to happen, but it did, and it left an impression on people, still, many years later. The most lasting impression of the Holocaust was influenced by two small Jewish girls, Anne Frank and Alicia Appleman-Jurman. Anne Frank wrote in her diary about all the horrors she faced each night while Alicia Appleman-Jurman spent her time after the war thinking back and putting into words her life as a young Jew during the Holocaust. Germany was already in very bad shape after the Depression of the 1920's. World War I made things worse. It wrecked major havoc on Germany. The Versailles Treaty left Germany looking for someone to blame. The Treaty reduced Germany's pre-war territory and it's armed forces. It also demanded that Germany take the quilt for the war and to pay the allied forces reparations. The Germans turned the guilt towards the Jews to take the blame off them. This was only one cause for the Holocaust......
