Exercise A- Pride and Prejudice Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is a novel rich in meaning and lessons, making it the more interesting and captivating to the reader. Implied in the title of the story, Pride and Prejudice are two characteristics which form the base of the conflicts and misunderstandings throughout the whole. The witty, yet charming Miss Elizabeth Bennet comes from a family where money and wealth were scarce, but always desired. On the contrary, Mr. Darcy comes from a well known family of wealth, fame, and high class. The novel revolves around the slowly rising affection between these two complex characters, and the false judgment based on first impressions they have towards the other. Elizabeth’s pride was hurt early in the novel on her encounter with Mr. Darcy, and although she did not take it too harsh, she did however prejudice against him, finding him a most disagreeable gentleman. Thus, it was Mr. Darcy and his pride as well as prejudice which brought about Elizabeth’s own prejudice, enhancing her real character. Elizabeth’s first encounter with Mr. Darcy ......
