I�ll begin by describing my soil sample and telling why I was interested in testing the pH and other qualities within. The soil I chose was created by using water from the Rio Brazos River and sewage material from the city of Temple. Rio Brazos River Authority is the company in charge of this ecologically beneficial design. Processing sewage is not an easy task and requires other products such as sand, clay, loam, and mulch from shredding trees. This mixture is spread on the ground in huge piles and turned quite frequently to bake the soil. Water is added to keep the soil moist for cooking using solar heat via the sun. This cooking of the soil decomposes matter into organic material and increases microbial activity within. A major role for soil is providing continuous supplies of nutrients and dissolved minerals for proper plant growth. The nutrient content of the R.B.R.A. soil is extremely high due to the mulch and sewage. The mixture holds moisture levels suitable for most plants.
