Leadership and its Impact on Achievement E7033: Managing Change Argosy University October 23, 2004 Abstract Regarding the area of managing change, the writer reflects on a change situation that is currently underway in her workplace. The purpose of this paper is to review the administrator�s leadership style as it relates to being an instructional leader with regard to impacting student achievement; examine the type of leadership that sparks learning. Background information relevant to the paper, includes the demographical composition of Needs Improvement Middle School (NIMS). The 2000-01 student diversity reflected 2.5% Asian, 26.9% Black, 4% Hispanic, 63.9% White, 2.4% Multi-racial, and .3% American Indian. Currently, there are 49% White, 3% Multi-racial, 5% Hispanic, 3% Asian, .4% American Indian, and 39% black. Information was gathered through personal observation and published literature.
