Assignment 4 Aristotle In order for me to better understand Aristotle�s difference between matter and form, I had to find out more about him and his thought process. I believe that Plato contributed abundantly to his mind set and process of thought. We have to realize that he spent some twenty years at the Academy. While attending the Academy Plato recognized Aristotle as one of the brightest students and acknowledged him as �intelligence of the school�. Plato had a great deal of time to instill his theories on Aristotle. After the death of Plato he left the Academy to join a small group of Plato�s followers. He stayed with them for about three years in which was more time to discuss the theories of Plato. When he returned to Athens he founded a school called the Lyceum. In this school he taught his students while walking around, that�s how it originated it�s name. He did not completely disagree with Plato�s theory of universal Forms, although he did disagree with Forms existing separately from individual things.
