Marie Sklodowska also known as Madame Curie was born on November.7, 1867 in Warsaw, Poland. Curie was born into a poor but intellectually active family . Marie Curie grew up in a family that valued education. At the Sorbonne, she met and married Pierre Curie, a fellow - instructor. Curie is known for her famous discovery of the radium. In her pioneering way, Marie Curie decided, in 1897, to take a physics doctorate Madame Curie started her education at a very young age. She studied physics and chemistry. Curie attended high school at the College Sevigne in France, then studied physics and mathematics at the Sorbonne. A year later at the Sorbonne she received her masters degree in Mathematics. She thought this would give her more space to work on her project. Marie appeared as a character in the 1988 comedy, Young Einstein. She is also known as the first woman to use the term Radioactivity. In 1909 she was named the first woman to win two noble prizes in different science fields (Physics and Chemistry).She is also the best known woman in the history of science.
