In its early years, EuroDisney was a disaster. However this could have been avoided if better planning was made. (1)The first of the factors that crippled the EuroDisney venture was their assumption that what works in one country (Japan) will work in another. The Japanese culture embraces Americana in all its splendor, even taking field trips to meet the Disney mascots. The people of Europe were not as easily won over. To them, especially the French, Disney�s presence was a visible scar of capitalism across their beautiful city. Another reason that EuroDisney started out poorly was due to the misinterpretation of the customs and habits of European culture. The EuroDisney management believed that if they built the theme park Europe would change overnight. They thought that the park would urge people to change their vacation times to be more like that of Americans. There we also other factors such as an economic recession that greatly hindered the extent to which Europeans would want to spend money on expensive leisure.
