There are two types of diseases communicable and non-communicable. A communicable disease spreads from one living thing to another or through the environment. A non-communicable disease is one that is not transmitted by another person, vector, or by the environment. Ways that communicable diseases spread are by touching, sneezing, coughing, biting, kissing, or any other physical contact. Non-communicable diseases can only contracted through, heredity, gender, and age. Some communicable diseases are the common cold, a viral infection that causes inflammation of the mucous membranes that are the nose and throat. Another type is influenza or the flu, which is a viral infection of the respiratory tract. Then there is Pneumonia sitting at one of the top ten causes of death in the US. Pneumonia is an illness of the lungs and respiratory system in which the alveoli, microscopic air-filled sacs of the lung responsible for absorbing oxygen from the atmosphere become inflamed and flooded with fluid.
