I went to an AA meeting at the Ridge, in Lexington. I found this meeting to be very interesting. Before this experience, I had never been to any type of group therapy or discussion, so I had no idea of what to expect. The people that attended this meeting were very open with one another, and very inviting to any of the newcomers to the group. Every time someone introduced themselves to the group, the rest of the group would give a hearty greeting, and say hello using the new person�s name. It would definitely make a new person feel welcome. I also noticed that there was a widely diverse group of people participating in this group. There were people in there teens, to people probably in there sixties. They started their discussion by reading a couple of statements; including their mission statement, their opening, and their twelve traditions. Another thing that I thought was extremely important for the group was that the group was lead by someone with the disease. I think it is important to be able to hear and speak to others who are like you, especially in an environment ......
