Mass media is the various means of transferring information to the public by use of newspapers, radio, television and the Internet. The United States is possibly more of a mass media society than any other country. A large percentage of adult Americans either read or watch a daily news source. Where a person gets their news can influence their views on a candidate and the election process. For most of the past couple hundred years, mass communication of political information has been dominated by television and newspaper but had seen many changes in the past few years. The newspaper has had importance since the revolutionary period. Then newspapers served as effective tools for getting public opinion going. They were also the primary tool for political debates.
