Essay Education At Lowood School In ‘Jane Eyre’ Education at Lowood School is very different from education today. Jane Eyre is not formally educated at Gateshead where she lives with her aunt and cousins before attending Lowood. While Jane was living at Gateshead she wasn’t happy at all, and the aunty and her cousins were always horrible to her, treating her the wrong way, pushing her and locking her in the red room. Jane is very fond of her books, reading the ‘Berwick’s History of British Birds.’ She also learns from looking at the pictures, by what goes on and lead her to believe mysterious things go on. Jane’s aunty didn’t like Jane much at all; Jane was so depressed at Gateshead she wanted to go to school. Her aunty was glad to send Jane to Lowood School; this didn’t bother the aunt that much. As Jane Eyre was getting ready to go to Lowood School Bessie, who is the maid who looked after Jane as if Jane was her daughter, carried a lantern, “whose light glanced on the wet steps and grovel road sodden by a recent thaw.” I think that it’s a bit far for Jane to travel by h......
