Role Models Wanted Role models are people who serve as an example of positive behaviors, values, and attitudes associated with a role. According to The New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy role models can also be people who distinguish themselves in such a way that others admire and want to imitate them. Children tend to model their behavior and attitudes on adults particularly of sports stars and celebrities. This is why we should expect our sports stars and celebrities to act in an honorable way since they are not only representing their country and accepting huge pay packets, but because they are role models for younger generations. These �role models� carry the aspirations of a nation wherever they go and are our idols; and because of this they voluntarily place themselves in a special category of role models. In the past celebrity role models were more positive all around, where as present day celebrities either take no part in being a role model or they are extremely supportive of the youth; respecting others, and being mature adults.
