“Letter to My Mother”, by Barbra Kingsolver is a letter about the evolution of the relationship between mother and daughter. Many feelings and emotions encompass the relationship between parent and their child, Kingsolver shows these emotions in a confessional type of letter. There are feelings that the author has for her mother that she needs her to know about. The author has wrote this letter as a mother herself, so she feels that she can now relate to her mother and share these memories with her. The author’s relationship changes throughout the letter, it almost cycles in a way, but no matter what there is a deep love for her mother that she wanted her mother to truly comprehend. Kingsolver has a fairly normal relationship with her mother as a child. Her mother is her world and needs her in her life on a constant basis. She terribly misses her mother, while her parents are on their first vacation since she was born. Kingsolver loves being at her Grandparents, but always has her mother on her mind.
