1920s Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The 1920s were time of period in which the Americans turned to leisure activities. It was something that they wanted after World War I. In fact, “In 1919 Americans spent $2.5 billion on leisure activities; by 1929 such expenditures topped $4.3 billion” (Norton 670). New imaginative ideas influenced many Americans and eventually follow what other people did. People started to attend sport events, listened to music, especially jazz and visited the movies. First, millions of fans packed the sport stadium to see their favorite team or player. They come together to watch or they even listen from the radio. Also, Babe Ruth changed the life of baseball. The Yankees fan came to the Yankee Stadium to see him hit home runs season after season. He “appealed to Americans because he represented what many Americans believed to be their own potential” (Hartman). The company owners felt that with baseball becoming a leisure activity for their workers, it would mean that their workers are satisfied with what they are doing.
