Compare A Variety Of Horror Films And Analyse The Ways In Which They Appeal To Specific Target Audiences. In this essay I am going to compare a variety of horror films and analyse the ways in which they appeal to a specific target audience. The films I will be studying are �The Lost Boys�, �Horror of Dracula� and an episode from �Buffy the Vampire Slayer�. Directors use a variety of techniques to target audiences these are: Genre e.g. the type of film for example comedy. Stars e.g. Adam Sandler and how stars have their own audience. Narrative e.g. storyline, Todorov�s theory of equilibrium and codes of enigma also binary opposites. Visual Style e.g. the mis-en-scene, camera angles and shots and the style you see for a comedy it would be bright and sunny and the film may be animated. It is so important for directors to target audiences now days because of the fall of attendance at cinemas in the last fifty years this is mostly due to rental shops, pirate copies, internet and digital television.
