Out of these arrests 1.7 million are made due to illegal possession or use of guns. Due to the rising number of deaths connected to firearms each year, the United States� government has become pressured to act and concluded that enforcing gun control is necessary in all states (Lee). Gun control has protected civilians for many years. It exists as a system committed to reducing the number of gun related crimes in the United States. Sadly, these crimes can range from school shootings to robberies and presidential assassinations.
