Fashion 1920-early 1950's Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Fashion is defined as a style of dress that is popular during a certain time or era. It reflects a persons’ social class in the old days and in modern times it reflects personality. Until the twentieth century, fashion hasn’t changed a whole lot. During this time period new fabrics and innovations were introduced to America. The 1920’s was the decade when fashion entered the modern era. “The Roaring Twenties” was the North American period of the twenties which was described “one of the most colorful decades in American history.” This was the decade when women started to wear more comfortable clothing such as short skirts or pants. They listened to Jazz, were flat-chested, and bobbed their hair. These women were called “Flappers.” One of the most famous fashion designer in the late 1920’s was Gabrielle Chanel, known as Coco Chanel. Her clothing style became the style in the twenties. Her style promoted the style of the Flappers. Her clothing was made for comfort and ease. Chanel introduced the world to the jumper, worn by men and women.
