Brutus vs Cassius Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In "Julius Caesar", by William Shakespheare, Marcus Brutus and Caius Cassius are the main characters. They may have things in commom but they are contrasting indivduals. Brutus and Cassius are both conspirators but with different reasons for choosing Caesar's murder. Brutus is more of a noble and naive person, while Cassius is very manipulative and envious. Their personalities, motives that infuence then to kill Caesar, and their perception of Antony are very different. Marcus Brutus has a genuine and noble personality. Even Cassius recognizes this trait, "Well, Brutus, thou art noble." (act1, sc2, 320) He was willing to placre Rome above everything else, even Caesar. Brutus loves him as a friend, but he thought killing him was best for Rome, "I slew my best lover for the good of Rome." (act3, sc2, 47) Unlike Marcus Brutus, Caius Cassius has a shady and shrewd personality. He is not trustworthy, so he wants Brutus to ally with him to convince the people that killing Caesar is for an honorable purpose. He slyly makes Brutus believe that Caesar is too powerful and that he should di......
