Chapters 9 & 10 Summarized Chapter 9: Developmental psychology is the study of how humans grow, develop, and change throughout their lifespan. There are several different aspects of developmental psychology depending on which area is analyzed. For example, some developmental psychologists study particular age groups such as infancy, childhood, adolescence, and middle and late adulthood. Other developmental psychologists may choose to concentrate more on cognitive thinking, emotional development, or moral and physical development. From the time we are conceived to the time our bodies die, the human being changes dramatically. Prenatal development consist of the three stages of development titles trimesters. From the minute we are conceived in the womb, our bodies begin to develop. We begin as a single cell in the womb known as a zygote consisting of forty-six chromosomes and a numerous amount of genes necessary for human growth.
