David Puttnam asserts that it was David Selznick, Hal Wallis, Daryl Zanuck and other heads of production who determined the kinds of films made in Hollywood in the 1930s. Daryl Zanuck was one of the biggest producers in the history of Hollywood producers and back in the 1930�s the Hollywood producer was a very powerful position to hold. Zanuck was born the son of an alcoholic night clerk at a Nebraskan hotel and the hotel owners daughter. His parents marriage was short and anything but sweet and he was abandoned by them both at the age of 13. Many believe that it was having a start in life that was this hard that made Zanuck the great producer that he became.
