Romeo and Juliet : Act three scene one: Examine the dramatic significance of Mercutio’s death Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The story of Romeo and Juliet is about two families. The Montague’s and the Capulet’s. the Montague’s are Romeos family and the Capulet’s are Juliet’s family. The reason they have a long lasting feud is due to both of the families want to have supremacy over the city of Verona but none of them can as both families are as powerful as the other. The families have been through a lot with each other the fights, Mercutio getting killed by Tybalt and then Romeo killing Tybalt, Romeo and Juliet getting married and Juliet faking her own death and then Romeo and Juliet end up dying together in the end. In the scene that I am examining ( act three, scene one) Romeo has just returned from his wedding to Juliet to find Tybalt waiting to fight him because he had entered the Capulet’s ball. Romeo refuses to fight and ends up getting beat up but then his loyal friend Mercutio steps in to stick up for his friend Romeo but ends up getting Killed by Tybalt so Romeo chases after Tybalt in a frenzy and then kills Tybalt in vengeance of his friend and eventually gets banned from the city of Verona for ......
