EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The United States shoe industry is considered the most dominant industry in the world. The footwear market consists of various establishments that work at retailing all types of footwear including athletic, casual, formal, and work shoes made from leather or synthetic materials. Long ago, these types of shoes were unavailable and using these particular types of materials was unheard of. People in ancient times had to use either grass or rawhide to make their shoes. Since the footwear industry promotes so many shoe categories, the market is moderately dynamic. The shoe industry has demonstrated moderate growth in the past. Because of new styles and new activities, the footwear market will continue to grow to satisfy all of its diverse customers. Analysts predict that both the industry market value and volume will increase causing the market to expand by at least 16% by the year 2010.
