What is adaptation? Adaptation is any alteration in the structure or function of an individual or any of its parts that results from natural selection and by which the being becomes better fitted to survive and multiply in its environment. This is what Humans have been doing since the beginning of time! The earliest suggestion of adaptation was during the Paleolithic era. The Paleolithic era is also known as the “old stone age” because the entire time period humans were making tools of stone. The next time period that indicates a change in adaptation is the Neolithic era. During the Neolithic era humans developed a way to produce their own food; they went from the hunting-gathering phase to the agricultural-herding phase. These are among many accomplishments that humans have achieved over time.
