Being in a wheelchair was a very hard thing to do. At first I thought it would be fun sitting in a chair all day wheeling myself around school. But it was much different. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. You need a lot of upper body strength, which I did not have, to push yourself around all day. Also you need to mentally cope with all the stares and comment you see around you.
It was all very embarrassing for me. You have to make a special entrance to class after being late because your sweating trying to get from class to class and you have to find room to park your chair. This project really opened my eyes to what crippled people have to go through on a daily basis. Personally, I would never want to go through that on a daily basis. It makes me feel sorry for people who have to go through that.
Functioning in a wheel chair was hard as well. It was so hard to use the bathroom. You had to lift yourself up on the toilet without the use of your legs. I didn’t know how to do that. Getting a drink of water was hard to. Even the low drinking foun......
