The frivolous lawsuits state the sad reality of our nation. In our sue happy country today people are suing fast food restaurants blaming them for making them obese. Obesity is term used to describe people who are twenty percent over their ideal weight. Obesity is an epidemic sweeping our nation, particularly among young children. Over the past two decades the obesity rates among children have dramatically risen. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 15 percent of children age 6-19 are overweight. This epidemic can be attributed to the rapid increase in debilitating diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Obesity is the result of cumulative factors such as lack of physical activity, socioeconomic status of the parents, and poor eating habits.
