Bulimia and Anorexia We all have insecurities. One of the biggest problems with insecurities is about ones weight. Not everybody is happy with what they see when they look in the mirror. When that is the case, some take drastic measures in order to be able to look at themselves and be completely satisfied. Some will do whatever it takes to be able to be happy with their body even if it means causing themselves harm. Often confused for each other, bulimia and anorexia are eating disorders most common among teens that have a distorted image of themselves. Bulimia comes from the Greek word boulimos, meaning �great hunger" (Nagel). There are two types of bulimics. Some who purge and some who don�t. The purging bulimics go on food binges where they eat an excessive amount of food only to purge and get rid of it before it turns into fat. When bulimics purge they either vomit or use large amounts of laxatives to get rid of what they no longer want in their body.
