Empathy Melanie Chartrand Brandon University If you�re a young single person whom has just learned that a friend of yours has become pregnant and asks your advice on how to tell her parents, you can sympathize with her situation, even if you�ve never had to face that type of dilemma in your own life. On the other hand, if you had just lost your father to an illness and join a group of people whom also lost their fathers, you would be able to empathize with them, as you truly know how it feels to have lost a loved one. Empathy and sympathy have been defined together in many instances but have very distinctive differences.
