Hinduism Considering that Hinduism lacks a united belief system, what makes up the Hindu religion? Well, to answer that question, you would have to think outside the proverbial box. It can be quite difficult to understand something that is entirely different from what you are brought up to believe. In this case, Hinduism is completely different from the Jewish and Christian based religions that are so common in the United States. Rather than being based upon a common system of beliefs, Hinduism is based on Dharma, Samsara, Karma, and Maksha. Dharma involves ethics and duties. Members of the Hindu religion are expected to carry out duties involved with their society. These members are also expected to carry out ethical behavior in all situations. The term Samsara has to do with reincarnation, or the continuing cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth. It is believed in the Hindu Religion that all beings are born over and over again into different bodies. The bodies born into are not limited to that of human beings, but can include animals as well.
