Section One: Ethnography
The setting is outside of a Toys R’ Us from 12:30am until 9:30am. I have selected this time period because I was around people that I had never interacted with before. Everyone was there for the same purpose, that purpose was to buy a Nintendo Wii for either themselves or a loved one. The only person there that I knew was my brother in law. My brother in law was there to buy a Wii for his four kids and I was there to buy a Wii for my cousins in Utah (as I already purchased one when they first came out.) The process of sitting outside of a store waiting for it to open so you can be the first in line to purchase an item that you want is referred as “Camping”. Each one of the “Campers” was very unique, there were different ages, races and personalities. Altogether throughout the night there were about 60 people “Camping” outside of Toys R’ Us.
Section 2: Ethnographic Analysis
The focus of my research is going to be on conversation dominance according to age, sex and class. I will also focus on verbal aggression according to age, sex and class.......
