Many revolutions are fought all around the world. The Haitian and French Revolution are amongst the many. Both of these taking place during the late 18th century into the early 19th century. Revolutions mark times were people protest for rights to benefit the country and the people living in it. The French and the Haitians during this period took big actions to reform government and gained freedoms of having a voice in government. Haitian Revolution was a long slave revolt started in 1791. It lasted for 12 years. Toussaint along with others led this revolt. The French controlled Haiti and where unaware at first of what was going on. The slaves worked on the plantations for so long, and they wanted to gain rights and get rid of their owners. This revolution was driven by the passions of men and women who had been enslaved for most of their lives. They desired liberty and wanted vengeance. They were property of the public and yielded obedience. The slaves were united by the language they spoke, Creole, Spanish, French, African, and their religion, Vodun.
