The Civil Rights Movement (1954-1965) There have many different movements that American society has witnessed in its history. One of the most influential movements that had the most impact on American society is the Civil Rights Movement. There were many key actors that were dedicated to bringing change to a society of intolerance. The American Civil Rights Movement lasted between 1954 and 1965. Many different things happened during this 11 year span which resulted in stronger and strived for equal rights for African Americans and other oppressed groups such as women. Many people were significant during this time and their actions brought equal justice and fought for Civil Rights for all individuals. These prominent figures led to one of the most significant revolutions that the United Stated had ever witnessed, from Brown v. Board of Education in 1954 to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
