Measuring the relationships between stress coping Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Abstract: The purpose of the experiment is to see how people cope with stress and their level of psychosomatic illness. This research was first done by Hans Selye; he recognised the relationship between stress and illness. Participants in the experiments were asked to fill out a survey sheet, which asked them how they cope and deal with stress. The experimenter’s hypothesis was that subjects, who reported using a greater number of stress coping strategies, will report fewer incidents of psychosomatic illnesses. This was proved in the results, with the higher levels of stress coping strategies, the lower levels of psychosomatic illness. Introduction: The purpose of this survey is to see how people cope with stress and through this, reduce the level of psychosomatic illness they will suffer. Hans Selye was one of the world’s first psychologists to recognise the link between high stress levels and illness.
