The media has played a huge role in this conditioning with many different scare tactics. In the 1936 movie, �Reefer Madness,� marijuana use leads to a hit and run accident, manslaughter, suicide, and rape. The film never gained an audience until it was rediscovered in the 1970s and gained new life as a piece of unintentional comedy among marijuana smokers. For years marijuana has been regarded as a harmful and dangerous drug. In Bob Barr�s article, �Marijuana Should Not Be Legalized,� (Paragraph 10) he argues that marijuana leads to abuse of other drugs like heroin, LSD, and cocaine, but he does not show scientifically or logically how he came to this conclusion. The American public has been conditioned to believe that marijuana has many negative effects, and is never worth the cost to legalize. It is time for a change; marijuana should be legalized.
