Robert Fulton was an inventor who built the first profitable steamboat. He was a very talented bright man who did many great things for technology today. He had also laid the groundwork for future submarine and torpedo warfare. Without Robert Fulton I do not believe that we would have the same technology as we have today. The steam boat greatly impacted life during the Industrial Revolution and life today. Robert Fulton introduced advanced technology for transportation to society by inventing the steamboat Robert Fulton was born November 14, 1765 in a little Britain Township in Pennsylvania. While he was growing up, his family had some financial issues. He had many jobs that helped with inventing the steamboat. For example, as a child he would spend much time with gunsmiths, and made mechanical drawings and painted signs for them (Goldenbergs, 854). By the early 1790�s Fulton had started to work with canals and machines. One of Fulton�s friends had introduced him to Joel Barlow who had made much money by running American ships through the British blockade and into French ports.......
