Huntington Article Clash of Civilizations, by Samuel P. Huntington, makes the Argument that the fundamental source of conflict in �this new world will be primarily ideological, the ideas or manner of thinking characteristic of an individual or group especially the ideas and objectives that influence a whole group of national culture, shaping especially their political and social procedure, primarily, economic in nature(pg1).� What is the connection between the West and the Muslim world that makes his argument true? Specifically, Huntington makes the connection between nation states and civilizations, obviously nation states are made up of civilizations. A civilization is a cultural entity. Villages, religious, ethnic groups, religious groups all have distinct cultures that make up a civilization. European communities will share cultural features that distinguish them from Arab or Chinese communities. Huntington names seven or eight major civilizations will develop and these will include Western, Confucian, Japanese, Islamic, Hindu, Slavic Orthodox, Latin American and possibly ......
