The novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is a dystopian novel. The novel explores a world that is in a constant state of happiness, or constantly pursuing it. In this pursuit members of the new world are conditioned at a young age to be a working piece of society. All together the members form one united happy world. To preserve the world state of happiness and unity, the members are encouraged, or conditioned to be promiscuous with everyone. Along with the promiscuity some characters in the novel find unorthodoxy and rebellion through love. Huxley’s novel can be seen as an interpretation of the current world’s growing promiscuity. Huxley uses his characters in the novel to make this interpretation complete; this is seen in Bernard’s rejection, Lenina’s love affair, and Johns ideology of marriage.
